Hindsight is 20/20

It had to happen. After being away for 15 days, Randy was due to arrive at the Columbus airport at 9:05 p.m. this evening. And yes, you read that right--he was due to arrive this evening. That is no longer the case.

To make a very long story short, his flight was cancelled due to "mechanical issues" and his only alternative was to get in line and try to get the next available flight. None of the passengers on his original flight were able to leave tonight as the next flight was already booked solid. He had high hopes for an 8:30 a.m. flight leaving in the morning . . . oh, did I mention he had to stand in a long line? He is now scheduled to leave at 11:30 a.m. and, Lord willing, will arrive at 2:45 p.m. That is going to seriously cut into what little family time we were going to have tomorrow before he heads out again on Sunday with Tyler and Darcy to go to church camp. Ugh.

The kicker is that he had an opportunity to leave on an earlier flight this morning, but we both agreed it was best to just leave things as they were. The airline was going to charge something like $400 (or maybe it was $600) to issue a new ticket so that was not an option, but after being away from him for 2+ weeks, it would have been worth $600 to me to have him home tonight instead of tomorrow!

Oh, Anrea, I'm so sorry. How unfortunate for the plans to go awry. I'm glad the flight was cancelled prior to boarding, though, since there were mechanical issues. I've dreaded those times when flights haven't gone as scheduled. And you had to wait even longer to see your husband again!
